I was surfing the gen message boards which i have not done in a long time, & I saw a query on May 9, 03 by my cousin-in-law J Lawrence regarding my great grandfather Oscar Stephensen(sp) Bryan. I am also a J Lawrence (nee). Anyway, You said u had info on Oscar's grandfather? I then saw your nov 23, 09 long post with all the Bryan families listed.
My cous is in SXM rite now, so I am asking u if this was the info u were referring to, or is there something different? My cous DID find Oscar's parents names from his death certif which she was able to get from the SXM Mairie a few yrs ago, but rite this min. I can't put my finger on the info except that i do remember his mom's maiden name was Paine(Payne sp?). If u have info on his grndparents that would b great! Oscar & his wife were white. I was also told by a Bryan cousin that there are/were white Bryans and black Bryans 2 diff lines i guess, this would make sense with slavery history...
Anyway, if you have more info to offer I would very much appreciate it, and, if not, I thank you for your kind consideration.

I am a descendant of Julia Inez Bryan who appears on Badminton's list. There were Indians from India on Anguilla as well and the English referred to them as black or coloured. Julia was of Irish and Indian descent.
