Trying to find a record of my great, great grandfather Edward Burns. An aunt wrote that he was "born at sea as his parents were immigrating from Scotland." I find no record of this. He was born about 1775-80 and one report claimed their ship landed at New Orleans, but again I find no list of immigrants in New Orleans earlier than 1800. From there (or somewhere) he ended up in Kentucky, married one Sally Boon(e), and died in Warrick County, Indiana. Anyone know of earlier immigrant records for New Orleans, and where I might find them?
